They say that it is the journey that matters, not the destination. Sitting in the back tray of a ute while driving along the West Coast of Oahu en route to Yokohama Bay was an unexpected experience in itself; my hair whipping everywhere in the wind, surrounded by mountains dwarfing us on one side and the sweeping ocean on the other. We had originally planned to visit Queens Bath rock pool but the enormous swell made it impossible so we visited Yokohama Bay instead. We still managed to spend the afternoon bouncing around in the smaller rock pools that somewhat protected us from the massive swell, with a few surprise waves breaking over leaving us in squeals of excitement.
