It always feels eerie going back somewhere where you had such a strong emotion towards previously. Part of you wants to re live it again but the other part doesn’t want to possible taint the romanticized memory that you might prefer to hold on to. I know I can get all sentimental like but when Zanita and I shot on this rooftop it was such an incredible moment for us both at the start of our European summer, and one of the highlights when we look back so fondly now. Rather than just random shots with pretty backgrounds, it was definitely a highlight of a summer we will look back on for the rest of our lives. And we knew exactly this while shooting the entire time.
Going back and with someone else now I found myself trying to explain just what it was about it, but you never can unless someone is there experiencing it right beside you or has another version to reflect on themselves. Visiting the Duomo rooftop could never be tainted, but I also don’t want to go too often to wear out its overwhelming effect on me. I wore this to dinner with some of the Dolce and Gabbana team at their Gold restaurant while in Milan last week. Either it was the event season of black and white dresses for me, or I’ve been trying to make the most of this fading sunlight.
