Trying to take a break from taxi’s I decided to walk down to Darling Harbour for my last evening shows of FW. Appreciation of the beautiful sunset quickly turned to a few swear words escaping me as my heel’s straps suddenly snapped in the middle of the road. There were always bound to be some clothing fatalities during the week and actually very fortunate it happened during the last moments of the week when no one was around to see me wandering the streets with bare feet. After a quick taxi ride and shoe change, I made it just in the nick of time for Carl Kapp and Christopher Esber’s shows to end FW on a high.
Carl Kapp can truly do wonders with colour and meticulous tailoring. I used to only own blazers as there isn’t much need for coats with Australian seasons. But after slowly starting to collect a few well made coats like this that now I suddenly start looking for excuses to wear them. Throwing on a tailored and well fitting coat can completely change an outfit, hide what is underneath or bring it to life. I’m aiming (fingers crossed) to move to New York after summer in Europe and am making sure this coat is packed and ready for my mum to post over the moment the weather let’s me get away with wearing it.
