Brooklyn based designer Gretchen Jones’ showed her Spring 2012 collection Horses, which she rightfully described as “simultaneously minimal and bohemian, romantic and modern, feminine and architectural”. Bright patterned flowing lengths contrasted with the neutral, minimalistic button downs that were in line up along the county jail inspired presentation.

If you are heading to New York and planing to do some shopping, I sincerely advise that you put Brooklyn Flea market’s on your agenda. By now I have been to a fair few markets around the world, like Paris’ Montmartre, Berlin’s Mauerpark Flohmrkt, London’s Brick Lane, and all the others in between. These markets didn’t have the familiar dodgy, car boot style feel but rather a clean, small community of stall holders. Held in different locations over the weekend, it consists of mainly the same stalls so you can choose where and when best suits you. Cut 25 is Yigal Azrouel’s diffusion line aimed for a playful, young audience. I had a private preview of the collection, that was inspired by 80’s surf culture, before the show at NYFW. I was introduced to electric colours, shapely silhouettes with a sporty aesthetic that was complimented by a collaboration with Frye shoes.
